My wife would like to have a serger and there is a sale on Necchi brand sergers locally. Does anyone have an opinion on this brand of sewing machine/serger? Are they reliable? Easy to use? Easy to service?
Anyone ever heard of this brand?
Hello. Beuller…..Bueller….

Back in 1958 my Mother bought her first "good" sewing machine and it was a Necchi Bernina. It's still running - of course in those days the warranties were LIFETIME. Alas Mom is no longer with us but rest assured the machine was well used - clothing 4 kids - fancy stitching & all, quilting, jeans, home decor.
I am now the proud owner of it and use it for basics.
Since Bernina now operates alone I was surprised to find Necchi on the web. That's all I know for now - no modern day tech stuff.
Thanks Barb

That is odd, because I got a new sewing machine last fall, manufactured by Necchi, made in Italy. No mentioning of Bernina on either the machine, nor the instrunctions or warranty card. Maybe Necchi is just the lower-priced line of Bernina and they want to keep it secret?
BTW, I live in Germany, maybe the company names given on the machines differ, sort of like with cars: the Chrysler Town&Country here is called Voyager...
