ASG Conference in Sacramento, California

Jenster | Posted in Gather For A Chat on

Hi, I am new to this forum (and to sewing) and am considering attending the ASG conference in Sacramento in July. I am wondering if any of you have been to the conference in past years and what you thought of it– worth the money? Specific classes to take/avoid? Would you go again?

Thanks so much in advance! 🙂

Yes, and yes. I live about an hour away and plan to go for the day. The conference in Portland was worthwhile. That was in 2004, I think.

Haven't been to the conference but live nearby. If you're not familiar with the area, be aware that the average daily temperatures in Sacramento in July are well over 100 degrees, complete with a bit of humidity from the rivers and the sloughs! Evenings can be stuffy hot or very lovely with Delta breezes and mellow temps. If you can, arrange to be inside from noon till five or six but free in the lovely mornings and evenings.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and ASG, but I am attending the conference this year and I'm taking about 5 classes and going on the fabric store tour on Monday.

I usually attend the Sewing Expo in Chantilly, VA and I have a ball shopping and taking classes.

    Peace,

    Tee

Thanks so much, everyone! I just registered yesterday and I'm looking forward to it very much. Dressed, you won't be disappointed by the fabric tour. Britex is a real treat. I'm bringing my daughter and we decided to take the museum and bead shop tour. Those classes sure fill up quickly! I'm waitlisted for the leather class-- I think I'll wait it out and take my chances. Thanks for the warning about the hot weather! I was aware of that-- In fact, I laughed when I saw the "wear your Simplicity pattern day" and noticed that many of the patterns are cold-weather wear, like the trenchcoat and the capes. I wonder how many people are going to participate in that?
