To All New Espire Owners.
I’m in the market for a new sewing machine. My current one can only straight stitch and zig-zag and please do not ask me how old it is. :
I would really love to hear from BL New Espire owners about their experiences with this machine and the types of sewing that you do.
Let me tell you some of the sewing I do, and perhaps you can tell me if this machine might accommodate my needs.
I sew for my teenage daughter and make casual summer clothes for my 2 teenage boys (more stuff for the girl…she seems to require more outfit changes. Go figure.)
I would like to do machine quilting. I used to hand quilt but find it too time consuming to meet the demands of my family, not to mention my stitches are no longer as consistent as they once were. I would like to make little tags to place on my quilts when I give them away as gifts. Tags to read, something like, Made Especially For You…I think you get my drift.
I would like to use decorative stitches in my quilts and as a design feature in my daughter’s clothes.
Does the New Espire have an automatic threader? If not, how easy is it to thread?
Is there a stitch on this machine that replicates a hand quilt stitch?
Are you satisfied with free motion quilting on the New Espire?
Is there a workbook for this machine, and did you get it with your purchase? Did you find it useful? Did you require/receive lessons with your purchase?
What is your most favourite feature of this machine?
Would the New Espire meet my needs as stated above? What are your experiences. Be as wordy as you like. I know everyone is so busy these days, but I do appreciate the knowledge base this group represents.
Thank you for reading this request. I do look so forward to hearing from you.
Best Regards,
Lorna

I'm not a BL owner but I did look at the BL Ellure Plus, Decorator and Quilter machines in anticipation of purchasing a new machine. For me, one of the BL's best features is the needle threader, which at my age and eyesight is an absolute must. I also looked at the Pfaff2046 and its quilter equivalent, which I believe is the 2056, and it also had a great needle threader plus and "IDT" gizmo that maintains even fabric feed, and free-motion stipling. None of this speaks to the Espire but I thought you might find it interesting anyway as you search for just the right machine. Z
Lorna, I have a BL Ellure - it is about 5 years old, I do like it, I haven't had any problems with it. I don't know anything about the Espire...but there is one on Ebay is you want to take a look... jane
