Best of Threads DVD

AmberE | Posted in General Discussion on

I just wanted to let everyone know that the Best of Threads articles DVD is now on sale only through our web site (Threadsmagazine.com). It’s absolutely wonderful because the articles have been handpicked by Threads editors to cull some of the most favorite throughout the years. And many of them are from out-of-print issues. It’s a great holiday gift–whether for you or someone else!

Yes, it's a special product created for our most dedicated core readership!

      1. lorisews | | #3

Is there a list of the included articles somewhere? Those of us who have subscribed for years might be more interested if we knew it had some of the older out of print articles we have been interested in, for instance.

I received my Threads DVD in the post this week and I am somewhat disappointed. I like most of the selected articles especially the Couture articles. The main issue I have is that you never get a full page you can read. You have to enlarge everything you see and then use the cursors continiously in order just to read a page. Also if you are reading the text and you want to go back and look at the illustration then you have to move the page up/down , left/rigt  reapeat this agin to find where you have stopped reading. I think the idea is great the presentation just needs attention. I know trouser fitting is an issue but way too many trouser fitting related articles. Just my humble opinion but still worth your while getting it.

Thanks! This helps a lot as we work on DVDs going forward!

This is good to know.  I personally would like it in print with references to the issue in which it originally appeared.

Reading from a monitor is not my cup of tea!

        2. AmberE | | #6

          I'll get that for you!

Thanks, Amber, that would be great!Lori

I hope this will be made public. Thanks.

Amber, I have received my DVD. I have been so busy I haven't looked at it fully. I installed the programme to my computer and all is ok. I am also able to view the programme on my television, just plug my laptop/notebook to my television. This gives me a larger viewing area and I can watch and read the articles/vids in style.

I will let you know my thoughts once I have had a good read through the entire programme.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and all at Threads/Sew Stylish

I would prefer to see the 'Best of Threads" reflect the reader's favorite articles/procedures.

Hi Amber:  If I am in time, you are one.  It sounds like there are lots of articles on fitting pants, and that is really up my alley.  Thanks for the offer.  I am not sure if this is what you meant by email.  If it is not, I am sorry.  Thanks Scrubble4

Hi Amber;  I just read my post and it didn't even make sense to me.  So I am going to reword it here for you: I would definitely love to review the DVD.  I am in the middle of the road in terms of sewing expertise.  If that is the type of reviewer you would like, I would like to participate.  Thanks Scrubble4

If poss to use in the UK I would be happy to join the testers of the DVD.

Dear AmberI would love to review the DVD which I'm sure is very usable this side of the Atlantic. (It was videos that were not interchangeable) I am a reasonably advanced sewer, well not a beginner, as over the years I have made any and at times all of my clothes, and also do lots for around the house, cushions curtains etc.Look forward to hearing from you.

        Dear Amber E

Amber, I have just joined this forum and am interested in helping critique the DVD, if there are still copies available ( I understand there were only 10).  I will be going on a week long sewing retreat with 5 other members of my ASG group (Sacramento chapter) at the end of January and I'm sure we would all love to see and discuss the contents!  Would that be acceptable?

Thank you for your time and the Merriest of Christmas to you!

Sounds great to have the best of Threads on DVD!  Threads was recommended to me years ago while I was at the magazine rack looking for a good sewing help. The lady next to me highly recommended Threads.  I bought it faithfully ... and am glad for the return to the classic Threads advanced sewing help.  Thanks again, and Happy New Year!

Hello Amber,  I'd be interested in reviewing the DVD.  I write reviews (books. programs etc) for the National Social Work Journal, and I assist friends, their daughtersand other young people, to be excited about sewing.

      12. AmberE | | #31

Just wanted to let everyone who has expressed interest in review that we have waiting on our review copies and expect to ship them within a couple of weeks. Thanks to everyone who expressed interest--we've reached our limit on reviewers and really appreciate the helping hand!

Will there be a UK Region 2 version available?

    Amber,

I find it confusing to not be able to tell if a DVD requires a computer as opposed to the DVD player attached to a TV.  I am assuming this is only played on a computer.  Is this correct?

    Thanks,

    B

    1. AmberE | | #25

Yes, on a computer and it is confusing, I agree! The next DVD will be video---to mix it up even more!

      1. B | | #26

        Thanks, Amber

I appreciate learning that.  Haven't gotten the DVD player installed yet so will wait a bit.

    Hi Amber,

My ASG group recently placed a group order, and I just got my "Best of Threads" DVD in the mail.  I can't wait to check it out!  I've only subscribed to the magazine for a couple of years, so I don't have the extensive collection that some people do.  I think the DVD will be a great resource.  Thanks for putting it together.
