Blondie’s Christmas Stockings

blondie2sew | Posted in Photo Gallery on

I want to share my babies with you

Again as I posted on my Turkey discussion I wish I took pictures of all I have done. Especially the ones I did last year 8 different ones and all to their personality and likes. Anyway I need to get a hold of those people and have them take pictures for me!!

Again they just get more fun and I find new ideas every time very custom for whom I am making them.

It took me years for me to get mine done! Made everyone else’s but mine

Thanks again for letting me brag on them I am proud of these

I do make some special ones out of my husbands flight suit! Way too cool!!
These ones you will be seeing are ours and one for my Great Niece!!

Just darling!  When we get out the Christmas goodies, I will try to post the ones I made too.  They are so fun to make and try to match the personalities.  You have inspired me to make some more, thank You!  Mary

Dear Mary,I can't wait to see yours!! I have to tell you and Miss Cherrypop more about my husband's stocking.A bit of history. I learned from him that stockings are huge and carry a lot of sentimental value. with that saidMy husband had this huge stocking that his grandma made him when he was young. (you can tell it was from a kit, felt gold braid) This was a black velvet with a Santa head on it. Well over time it got kinda worn and chewed in places....I knew that it meant a lot the way he would bring it out year after year and such. So I finally said let me make you one and we can retire this one...Oh my word he would not hear of it...he would say then just repair it..so I took it to the fabric store looking to repair this and the lady had a great idea...mat and frame it because this was a treasure...I thought that is a perfect idea so I approached him with it and guess what he went for it!! So then we went to the fabric store and spent a lot of time in there as he was picking out fabric trim...he designed his own stocking from every detail I just sewed...And on our wall is a huge gallery piece....His childhood stocking..It is beautiful and I keep it up year round in my family room..So this is why I really make sure when I make these stockings for people they don't already have a great stocking...I know mine will be a lifetime of enjoyment...Some I haven't made for that I asked because of the important lesson my husband taught me and I want those I make them for to cherish them...just as much as I cherish making the stocking for them!!So there you go a little history behind my stockings..Now I am excited to see yours!! so bring it on....by the way when do you start decorating? Soon I hope!!I have my tree skirt to finish my goal is this year!! did't finish it last year...Connie

    When did I make those.

My husbands (Drk Green) and Abigael's (blue one) I made in 1999

And of course I hadn't made mine yet!!

Then Giselle (the purple) was born in 2001 so when she figured out her favorite colors and able to help pick out material I believe hers was made in 2003

The next year I finally made mine (the champagne colored one)

And then I made my Great Nieces(the pink and silver angel one)last year 2005.

It is so fun to bring them out every year.

I believe I started making stockings in like 1994 I believe was my first go around and trust me when I say that first one compared to now is a huge difference. I don't even know if that stocking is around.

I am going to make everyone I know whom I have made them for take pictures so I can have a file on them!!

In the beginning I didn't even put my name or date on the back now I do. Can't say when I started doing that either.

I do enjoy making stockings, my husband is a huge help in my thought process if I get stuck..go figure he is a great guy and loves to see all my work!!

    Thanks for your wonderful comments!!

Now girl you get that beautiful son of yours picking out his own fabric and make him a stocking that he will have for years and years!!

    Connie,

I love those stockings. I see satin, but was is the yellow crinkly material? Where is the flight suit stocking? Is your husband a pilot in the Army or commercial? I like the shape of your stockings, also. Sometimes, the shape just ruins the whole thing. What a nice mantel you will have for Christmas.

Thanks Marcy,Actually I use a lot of the different fabrics I like to mix it up a lot!!Yes satin, fuzzy fleece (purple one) Crushed panne, velvet, flannel backed satin(poodle) and I love using the over lay of a shimmery fabric that is what you probably see... I have used a crinkle fabric on a few that at this point no pictures for but I will be working on that so you all can see!! And get some inspiration from...as you can see my Christmas stockings are not all using the Christmas fabrics!! Which I think is cool.. I will be working on a coffee themed one this Christmas for my sister who loves coffee!!I will post my flight suit stockings hopefully soon...I have made these first ones and of course like the others these have evolved and they just got better but I will post the first ones I ever made with an explanation to them! Amongst the flying world my stockings have been a huge hit....My husband is in the AF and is a Loadmaster on the C17 yes he is a flyer but not a pilot..However I have to say the pilots wouldn't be able to fly without him!! He is a huge part of the crew..I promise to post those pics by this weekend when I get a free moment.Smiles to you Marcy
