Blue Mini Skirt Bag

blondie2sew | Posted in Photo Gallery on

Hey everyone,

I made another mini skirt bag…so of course from my Pink Bubble bag I have learned alot!! I made some construction changes of course since I new I wanted to do things different the next time around.

This one is for a very special person in my life. Her favorite color is blue so of course had to get the colors going..

As you will notice and when you compare to mine I changed up the pockets a bit..

Fabric I used a Home Dec fabric and the lining I used cotton. I made changes in the placement of the magnetic closure (I measured wrong when I did mine..so mine like sits right at the top..I love the placement now for this bag..

I used this time for the pockets a boucle fabric..so I utilized the fraying for the edges…thus the back pocket as you will notice again I didn’t put a flap on it like mine (referring to my pink bubble bag)

I also changed up the placement of the buttons in the front pockets.

I am having too much fun designing these….I have another thought out for another special person…

But I want to brag..can I …..Well everywhere I go I get stopped…and asked where I got my bag…I smile and I say I made it..and of course some say can I put me on the list for one of those!!

Makes me feel good when I have a designer original and that designer be me!! And I know all of you can relate to that!!

Hope you enjoy and I am hoping she will love her bag…it will be a surprise B-day gift…I had to take pics and post this before I packaged it up for mailing!!

    Good morning,

I enjoyed the pictures of your bag.  Very interesting.  I designed a saddle bag for my wheelchair.  I made it of denim, with snap and ribbon ties on each side.  I lined it with a lavender print cotton.

You inspired me to try to create more!

    Thanks

    Gerri

Very nice!  I like the fringe!  I still like the pink one better, and I am burned out on pink because it is my mother, daughter, and grand daughter's favorite colors.

Hi Blondie.  The new bag is fantastic.  I still love the pink bag, but this one could become my new favorite.  Until you make the next one, of course!  Best,  Cynthia

Yes you were one of the very few besides Loomchick and your sister-in-law (right) that got to see the Pink Original in person and up close!! But I have to say my placement of the magnetic closure like I said was at a better place. And I figured out that it was easier to place that closure before I put my material in the round..so I did learn from my first..So I am sewing up a couple of Dresses for Giselle (cute Halter Dresses) so she can have a new one for Easter and she will get to choose..then I am making Abigael her skort for her Easter fashion..So those will be my next pics to post and I will have them model them for you..So after that is done!! Be watching for my next purse...this one could become your next favorite!! ha ha haThanks for taking a peak!!
And what have you been working on since Expo darlin

      1. cynthia2 | | #9

Hi Blondie.  I haven't gotten much done since Expo.  I travel for work so much in the spring that I'm lucky to get 72 hours in one city.  I have managed to almost finish an aquamarine boucle jacket for spring. I'm hoping to have it for Easter Sunday.  All I have to do is assemble the lining, attached it, and hem the jacket.  Hopefully, that will get done tomorrow evening.  Next on the project list is a purse based on the pattern that Marion32 posted a few weeks ago.  I found some great fabric this weekend and can't wait to get started.  Best, Cynthia.

Right on!! So we will post a pic right? When you get the spring jacket done!! I will be looking for the thread...then I will be looking for that purse!! and Yes that is a really great style!!

Well what can I say that hasn't already been said.

I loved the Pink Bubble Bag. I had not seen a bag of this style before, and from reading all the input throughout that discussion, I was very impressed with your first attempt. Although I am not a pink person I loved the finished product.

On with the Blue.....This is my favourite, can't wait for your next fabulous treasure. I do like the contrasting fabric, pink yes but the print is very chic. I love the use of the boucle, it gives an added boost. Your chosen trim is so feminine, an excellent choice.

What is the handle made of? It really suits this bag. I know how the fabrics feel to the touch just want to know about the texture of the braided handle.

Blondie, you certainly have a gift for bags. Designing and playing with new fabrics must bring you so much enjoyment.

    Love your work, CherryPops

Thanks girl!!I too thought the different texture of the boucle fabric turned out fun!!Yes you pegged me I am always mixing up the textures...gotta do it that is what adds the interest!!As far at the handle...again that is the cotton Braided handle from Tall Poppy Craft out of where you are darlin..but just in a different color!!!The one on my pink bag is (what they considered Light pink) then on this bag this was what they classified as Cream..however I think of it more as taupe colors...so do we have that difference in colors from the US to Australia? When I ordered the cream I expected cream...when it came it really looked like taupe to me..interesting...and the light pink...I did truly consider this as a light pink but to the fuchsia maybe!! or do you consider fuchsia more Red..I am wondering as I was going to order more...I love these handles!!I am glad you liked the Blue..

Wow, Blondie - this is really great!  I'm so impressed and inspired.  Just out of curiosity . . . how long did it take for you to put this together (planning through to completion)?  I love the look and all of the detailing you did.  Very impressive and what a hip look with jeans!

Thanks Goodkarma!!Well first I have to tell you it is the process of what you want...like the pockets and colors and fabrics...that is what really takes more time for me!! Just getting it perfect!! I love mixing up the fabrics and pushing the limits with combining fabrics...So with that said..The actual construction well if you spend half hour to 45 mins a night sewing you will get it done within..I believe like 3 nights? If I do this from start to finish...that is after I know my fabrics and such...I can have it done within a few hours!! This is even with my kids interruptions..the first one I did title Pink Bubble bag for Expo...took a bit longer as this was my first one..then this one took of course a shorter time as I knew what I was in for and how it was put together!!Just a note to you..... on the other thread, with my other bag that I personally tote around, I gave you the pattern and a link I believe on where I got my handles..They come out of AustraliaThis pattern is so fun...I am going to make another after Easter..for one of my girlfriends and I can't wait for all to see the fabrics I chose for that one!! I do want to start making different styles of bags too...But I love this pattern too fun and fresh!Blondie
