Hello – I am a Breaktime construction forum member.
I also have an interest in sewing, which is why I just purchased my first machine, a Singer 411G, made in Germany in 1963. Somewhat ungainly in appearance, but a solid machine, and was wondering if you could advise on bobbins.
This 411G was well maintained, and came with the Singer booklet and all the accessory feet… but with just one bobbin: a clear, domed, plastic one rather than metal, which was a surprise as I was expecting metal.
Anyhow, I need more bobbins and was wondering which will work most easily in a 411G: Class 15, 66, plastic or metal?
Thanks. Pierre

Hello Pierre,
If you do not get a definitive answer here, try the Yahoo group "Wefixit" - a bunch of 'shade tree' mechanics for sewing machines, some with a soft spot for the oldies!
If no one has a good answer for you then just try either kind and see which works best in your opinion. Be aware that not all plastic bobbins are created equal, some cheaper ones have rough edges or other quirks!
Hope this helps!

Wandering around the web I found this http://ismacs.net/singer/p411.html
Is this your machine? it uses class 66 bobbins.

Becky, that's exactly the one. Class 66 then.
Thanks for the valuable link.
