I was reading an article from an old magazine. The woman made her tops/shirts into bodysuits so they would not pull out of her waistbands. I would love to try this, but I am not certain how to proceed with adding the panty part to the top/shirt. Could I take a panty pattern and just add it on to the top? Anyone have any ideas?

I remember this one, but not in great detail - I think that was pretty much it, but you'd have to experiment with the depth of shirt/panty so you could still sit down! You also have to allow enough room in the crotch for snaps or some other fastener. Try with waste fabric similar to what you want to use, and be prepared for a few alterations till yolu get it right.
