Boxer shorts pattern

Rabia | Posted in Patterns on

Can anyone recommend a pattern for boxer shorts? I’d like to make my BF some. I see Kwik Sew has a pattern with a one-piece back, and I have seen a pattern in Threads ads for a “panel-back” boxer short. Any suggestions or feedback on which is best? He has a big belly, so any hints on how to fit to that would also be a help.

I don't like the 'baggy bum
I don't like the 'baggy bum back," so I have avoided that type. The idea, I suppose, is to prevent wedgies and creeping, but men who wear boxers wear them loose and low, so that should not be a problem. In addition, I think the baggy bum just looks silly and, well, baggy!

Any of Kwik Sew's standard, current boxer patterns should be fine. Their instructions are hard to beat for clarity and simple construction. I've made the boxer pattern that also has a long pajama bottom in the envelope, and it is really excellent.

As to fitting the big belly? Don't sweat it. Men never worry about fitting the waistband around there, at least when they're younger. They just pull the pants down so the waistband rides UNDER the tummy.
