Brother Duetta and Embroidery Machines
I just saw the Brother Duetta 4500 yesterday and it is a BEAUTIFUL machine. It is supposed to come with $700.00 of free Anita Goodesign’s, which looked spectacular! I haven’t looked at the Ellegante but I was leaning toward the Bernina 730E or the 640E so now I am really confused.
One place quoted me 6000.00 with 2 years same as cash , 1 year warranty and another dealer said 5,000.00 with 5 years free labor, but only has 6 months same as cash. Both dealers are about the same distance (42 miles to one and 50 to the other) and both are really nice people.
Any thoughts on the Bernina machines from anyone? I hear the learning curve is harder so if you stitched the exact same design on a Bernina, Brother, Janome, or an Ellegante can you tell enough difference to warrant one machine over the next? I’ve noticed the dealers will sit there and tell you how the machine operates and tell you how wonderful it is but so far the Brother dealers are the only ones that let you pick a design and stitched it out. So far this is the ONLY machine I have actually heard run with the exception of the Vikings at JoAnn Fabrics.

I have a Bernina Deco 600 and have begun looking at new Berninas and other brands to upgrade. There's no doubt Bernina is a great machine but, the dealers seem to be very guarded with their knowledge. What you don't hear when you are looking to purchase the machine is what you will need to purchase after the sell to get your machine to perform as the demos in the store. You will get a basic bare bones machine and a big hole in your wallet and heart when you get home and fine out how minimum it really does.
Thank you for letting me know about the bare bones machine and I agree with you about guarding their knowledge. I had my sister go with me to look at the machines at a fair and she thought they weren't really customer friendly. They had some beautiful designs already done up, but when she asked some questions about taking a picture of a child, dog, etc. would the machine embroider it, they seemed annoyed. They said we would have to purchase software which ran around 2000.00 on top of the price of the machine!
The Brother dealer at the store was great and let me pick any design and they stitched it out and gave it to me. I just keep hearing that Bernina is better all around than the Brother, but I certainly don't have enough knowledge when it comes to embroidery to know. If anyone has any advice please let me know.
Thanks for agreeing about Bernina. Open vein for use of that one. Do you know anything about the Singer Quantum XL-6000? I have looked at it and trying to decide. That is only dealer I have close by.
I just got an email from JoAnn Fabrics and the SingerXL 6000 is on sale for 2699.00. I've never seen this machine for less than 3,000.00. I don't know anything about the Singer but there is a lot of positive feedback on the JoAnn site. I think you could return it if you absolutely didn't like it, which I don't think you have that option at any dealers, but make sure you ask first so you're not stuck with it.
I have the Pfaff 2124--you transfer the designs to a card and then stitch them out. That was limiting since I couldn't see the design on the machine and it doesn't except any of the new upgrades.
I looked at the 2170 which has the led panel so that you can see the designs and I also tested the Ellegante. I stitched designs on both machines and the Ellegante was the most user-friendly of the two. It does so much for you (threads itself, cuts the thread tails and sews 1000 stitches).
I got the Ellegante II with Nancy Ziemans new designs, DVD, and book. Ellegante Workbook ($100) , Accessories Workbook ($100) , $600 in Robinson Anton thread, 10 John Deere design packs ($700) , $200 in stabilizers, $600 gold standard service, Studio Plus software ($260), preferred customer plan, 12 month free financing and classes for about $6000.
That sounds like a heck of a deal on the Ellegante because for the same amount of money on the Duetta the only thing included is the 700.00 designs from Anita Goodesign. The designs are beautiful but some thread and stabilizer sounds good too! Thank you!
I am confused!!! What is the difference between the Brother Innovis 4000D and the Duetta 4500?? I saw the 4000 at the dealer's in Macon, Ga. and they have a floor model with the new quilting upgrade installed and the continuous hoop for $4500. She also said it would come with the Anita Goodesigns. A new one in box without upgrade and continuous hoop would be $4900. Then I see online the Duetta advertised. Is this the newer version of the 4000. I really loved the 4000 but I really don't care too much for all the Disney designs. Then I had a demo on the Babylock Ellegante and it really is the same machine with no Disney designs - has Nancy Zieman designs and built in continuous hoop designs but not the hoop to go with it-not the one that opens on both ends so all you have to do is pull your fabric through it and you don't have to re-hoop. Their price is $4295 but there is the same new quilting upgrade that would have to be installed for $150 or I can get a floor model that was used for 1 class for $3995. The new models come out next month and I know there is the new signature model with some extras from Nancy Zieman. I also am interested in the Studio Plus software that goes with the Babylock for organizing your designs. I have a brochure that says it's included with the Ellegante model but she showed me how it works (which is amazing) and she did not say it was included. She's on vacation this week, so I'll be seeing her next week with more questions, I guess. I'm just waiting to see how much the newer model is going to be and maybe I can get the current model cheaper? Always looking for a deal. The deal now with the Babylock is a 19" LCD flat screen TV which I don't really want so she said she'd give me the Design Pro stuff in place of it - have to find out if she meant the whole series or what. I'm not really interested n digitizing my own designs - too old for that--what I really want is the best of both worlds, I guess - the Babylock that is cheaper with the Anita Goodesigns. Well, I'm a dreamer!!!!
