Bunka

birdie | Posted in Gather For A Chat on

I am looking for info about Bunka – Japanese embroidery.  I have a kit and struggling with keeping the material taut so thread doesn’t pull back through from the back when I go to the next stitch.

I haven't done this in ages but when I used to do it they had special stretcher bars similiar to artist stretcher bars but not as heavy. You're supposed to use the size you want the finished picture to be and then it is framed in these bars. Hope that helps. Good luck. Sue

Thanks SueSCatlady - sorry so long getting back to you - I have the material on aframe, as instructed.  What I find is that the thread won't stay in the back of the picture.  It just pulls out when I bring the needle out and back into material, for the next stitch.  Some stay and I will be rolling along fine and then a whole lot of them pull out.
