“Business Opportunities” from the ads

mmkrzus1 | Posted in Gather For A Chat on

Question re ads in the back of the magazine:  Has anyone ever taken advantage of any of those “business opportunities” for sewing bibs or whatever?  I would like to do some simple sewing (I am definitely not a very proficient sewer but love it) from home for some simple money and thought those business opportunities might be the way to go.  Have you ever done any sewing work for any of the advertisers?  If so, please let me know whether they are a scam or whether you can actually earn some money doing these projects.  Thank you.

These offers are notorious for requiring you to buy starting supplies and never paying for the work. You'd be better off with eBay or a local gift shop or children's clothing shop. Someone I know makes holiday theme bibs, says people buy them to bring for the host's baby when invited for a holiday meal.

Thanks!  That's exactly the kind of information I needed.  Marilyn
