Hi,
does anyone know which type of buttonhole goes with which garnment? My sewing has 12 type of buttonholes and I can’t figure out when and where to use them.
Thanks

what is the fabric i use the auto with everything i find its the best button hole maker for me.
For beginners, have a look at some of your rtw garments. The coat button holes would probably have an eye at the end, for larger buttons and thicker fabric. This is because for thick fabrics the button would have a hand-made thread shank or a shank on the button itself. The sportswear would have wider, flat zigzag without eyes with flat ends. The default button would be without eyes in in a narrow zigzag but with graded (narrowing down) edges. Usually you can adjust the width of the zigzag. For ball buttons with a shank, a buttonhole with an eye is appropriate.
In most home sewing the default buttonhole would be the one you would most use.
