I have 3 different model Singer machines. None of them will make a neat equal stitch buttonhole. I want a new brand that will do one-step or automatic buttonholes that are easy and beautiful. A ton of fancy stitches is not needed. What can you recommend?

Before plunking down money for a new sewing machine that will do buttonholes, you may want to consider a Greist automatic buttonholer for your machine . . . I don't know if they're made any more . . . but, I have picked up a couple on eBay for under $5.00 (including eight buttonhole templates) . . . I used one for the first time on my Pfaff 130 about 15 years ago . . . I think they make a better buttonhole . . . although, my Janome MC 3000 makes very nice buttonholes
Thank you for your suggestion. Does a Griest fit on all machines?
Just like presser feet, I doubt if all Greist buttonhole devices fit all machines . . . the one I have fits low shank machines. You may want to take a look at a few online . . . the description will sometimes include the machine(s) the buttonholer attachment fits. Here's a review from someone that likes theirs . . .
http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/notions/readnotionreview.pl?readreview=1&ID=84I was fortunate to have some one-on-one assistance from someone at Sewing Machine Service Co in Renton, WA . . . A wonderful place for sewing machines and attachments of all types, ages, etc. A very knowledgeable group . . . you may want to give them a call at (425) 255-8673
Wonderful information. Thank you.
