Buttons for denim garments

Liz_Newton | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

I’m wondering if there are any sources in southern Ontario, Canada, or online for the thick-shank metal buttons one finds on ready-made jeans.

Also, the lenghts of denim I’ve purchased in the past (mostly from Fabricland) have been REALLY off grain; for one pair of jeans I used a lot of muscle to straighten the grain and when I washed the pants, the side seam line was practically on the front at the hem! Should I just leave the fabric off grain? Any ideas would be welcome.

Cheers everyone!

Multi-Phrase, at 471 Queen St West in Toronto (416-603-8383) has the best selection of stemmed buttons for jeans that I have seen in ages. They also have a fabulous selection of unusual colours and lengths of zippers, both regular and invisible; and all kinds of unusual and funky trims/beaded fringes etc. You can e-mail them at [email protected]
