Buying fabric online

sewcrazed | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

I’m looking at buying fabric online (silk crepe back satin) and wondering if the number of mm is an indication of the weight or the quality of the fabric.  (30mm or 40mm)

Weight.  A 40mm silk is quite heavy while a 5mm is very light and may sometimes be called paj.  Gail
