Can’t subscribe in Australia

alija | Posted in New to Sewing on

Why am I unable to subscribe to the digital edition in Australia? Because I don’t have a US state to select, I can’t proceed to sign up. It’s very frustrating. Everybody doesn’t live in the US!

Same! I've been a member for years including print subscription and I can't resubscribe because I live in Australia. To rub salt in the wound, they keep sending me "renew your subscription for $15!" special offers, then when I click the link it tells me the offer is only available in USA. It's not as though the marketing department doesn't know where I live. I can't renew even at full price.

I resubscibed last night using the renewal notice, and I live in Australia. I don't receive print copies of the magazine and still pay for them as part of the subscription. Perhaps a discount would be in order for the marketing department to consider or a reduced price for the annual USB version of the magazine as an alternative.

Goodness! That really is a rip off.

I was receiving the mags, but a month or more after the digital edition. They must be sending the mag by the cheapest version of sea mail. But charging for a mag and not posting it at all really is something that is illegal under Australian consumer laws, and if they want to sell in Australia they must comply with our laws.

Well, I seem to be subscribed now - I have had a welcome email with an invoice for the amount which will be charged when the 14 dy free trial ends along with a link to click. However, I am unable to log in, despite having gone thorugh the registration process. My 14 days fee trial is rapidly disappearing and, eve n worse, I fear the deduction will be made from my account without me even being able to log in in order to cancel it!. I have emailed customer service and messaged on Facebook, and had no reply. I'm not sure what else to - I don't think I shoud have to make a phone call to the US inorder to sort it out!

Initially, I had trouble logging in to Threads and like you, I contacted Customer Service. The issue was quickly fixed and I retained the full 14 days. If this does not occur with yourself, re-connect with Customer Service and request the free trial be reset to the full 14 days. Although I do not receive the printed magazine, the online version is available to me through this channel. Enjoy and Happy New Year.

I've had no replies when I've tried to contact Customer Service. How long did it take for them to respond to your query?

Like Australia, it is a major holiday period in the USA and staff would be on leave. Perhaps wait until next week for a response. I am sure Customer Service will make good the 14-day trial period given the difficulties you are experiencing. It was reset for me.

Thank you for your reassurance. I'll give it a few more days :-)

10 days later and 2 days left of my free trial and I have still has no luck getting any responses to my attempts to contact someone. What did you do to get a response from them?

      1. lizingham | | #10

I did. They sent me a rude email and told me to call them. So I responded to ask for an alternative because the international call charges would cost me a fortune, and their opening hours are the middle of the night (our time). That was a few days ago and I haven’t heard back.

But meanwhile the automated system for lost subscribers sent me a “pleeeeeease resubscribe, we’ll give you a discount” email, which had a link that worked. If they had their customer service act together I would have subscribed at full price.

Well, I'm going to have to give up. It's just over 3 weeks now since I first tried to contact them. I've tried every link I have come across on their website as well as the Facebook page. I've had absolutely no response. I'm not phoning from Australia!
Despite the fact that I am unable to log ito the Insider page, I have been getting constant emails from them regarding things which I am unable to access.
I'm very disappointed, as there was some specific information that I wanted to access, that I was prepared to pay for.
But I'm giving up and moving on.

Hello Alija, I too have had the login difficulties you describe and I despaired of customer care. However, I solved the login issue by clicking something on my iPad screen which reduced privacy. It doesn’t remain reduced after I leave that threads page. Also, I find Craftsy is really good too.

Thanks, I'd forgotton about Craftsy. I've used it for other things, but hadn't thought about it for the info I need at the moment. I'll give it a try :-)

I received an email from Customer Care on the 16th Jan using this email address : [email protected]

    Good luck.
