I am thinking of adapting an old pattern that I have for a child’s A Line jumper to make a cap sleeved dress for my little granddaughter. I think it would be cool and non binding unlike some of the gathered empire waist sundresses I have been making for her. I am thinking of cap sleeves and perhaps trim on the hem or cute pockets. I have many really cute pocket shapes that I have saved over the years. Any ideas on drafting the sleeves.. should the shoulder be slightly curved and how long ? The area is narrow as she has a small build. The fabric will be light cotton or seersucker. I have not seen a commercial pattern with this style. Have you? Thanks

Jumper patterns may be too large around the armscye...do you have another pattern that fits her with sleeves? (shirt) "Cap sleeve" can be as easy as just extending the shoulder seam a few inches so it extends past the shoulder point.

thank you for reminding me of the larger armscye on the jumper. I will just use it for the a-line flare and use a blouse for the top as you recommend.
I have little girl patterns that just put a partial ruffle over the shoulder area and bias tape to finish the under arm area. Very cool
