Does anyone know of a good pattern that includes a cell phone holster? I’d like to make one for my honey using John Deere fabric but I’d rather not spend a lot of time designing a pattern. The finished product needs to be practical and tough–ideas?

Maybe someone else has a pattern source for you, but I suspect that, with so many different types of phones on the market (we have four different ones in our immediate family), you'll end up having to do a lot of modifications anyway.
When making covers for other gadgets such as our garage door remote, a flashlight, and a camera, I've had very good luck making patterns from paper towels. It doesn't take very long to fold it over and around, cut and snip here and there, and tape it all together with cello tape. The thicker towels are remarkably like fabric in handling and shaping.
Once I get the paper towel cover to fit, I remove it from the gadget, mark it carefully, and then cut it apart to use as a template, adding 1/4" seam allowances as I cut it out. This pattern-making process looks a little silly, but it's fast and works very well!

McCall's, Simplicity, and Kwik Sew all have cell phone holster patterns. I don't have their numbers at hand, but they all have online catalogues you can go through.
