child vest alteration

delpa | Posted in General Sewing Info on

Please help any ideas on alterations on a child’s vest from size 16 to 12.  I have cut a new child’s vest but due to time unable to complete before the weekend.

Many Thanks,

delpa

I am not quite sure what you want to do.  Are you working with an existing vest, making it fit a smaller child?  Are you working with a one size pattern that is not quite small enough and need to change the pattern?  A child's size 12 pattern is designed to fit a 30 inch chest (don't forget to add some inches for ease and the fact that a vest is worn over other clothes) How much to shorten the vertical dimension depends on the child's build, some 12 yr olds are already quite tall.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, more information please!

      Hello Becky,

The weather got cooler on Saturday (thank heaven for living in Canada) so he wore a jacket instead of the vest.  Many thanks for your reply.
