Can someone tell me if making those adorable (and very expensive) appliqued childrens overalls involves “paper piecing?” I would love for my little girl to have a pair, but not for the price that they are selling for. I can sew and have an embroidery machine, so I’d like to be able to do it myself. I’d like to make my own designs and applique them, but I’m not familiar with how I should do it. Thanks in advance for any ideas, tips or information!

Could you point us to a photo of some of these? Paper piecing is a quilting technique. Take a look at some quilting sites or Google for paper piecing.Edit: I just looked up quilting paper piecing on Google, there are many sites but you may be particularly interested in this one:

Paper piecing and applique are two completely different techniques. I doubt very much that any overalls you've seen include paper piecing.
