choosing a sewing /embroidery machine

patr | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

after owning a kenmore sewing machine for 30 years, i am finally in the market for a new machine. i am confused and overwhelmed with all the choices. i know that i want a combination sewing/embroidery machine, but i am not sure that i need all the bells and whistles . i doubt that i will be taking designs from the internet.

i am leaning toward the brother ult2003d or pc8500d. are these machines worth the high prices that are being asked for them? this will be the last machine that i will purchase so i want to make the right choice. i am an intermediate sewer and will use the machine mostly for repairs, crafts, home fashions and sporadic embroidery.

any advice will be appreciated even if you suggest a different machine

Since you seem satisfied with your old Kenmore, go check out the new ones.  You can get a combo sewing/embroidery machine TOL made by Janome for around $1799.  It's a great deal.  Ask about rebates as they often offer the required software, etc free as a rebate.
