What are you making for the holidays?

There are some free sweet tiny sweater patterns for the Christmas tree on the Berocco site. I may use up some leftover sock yarn to knit some up and send instead of Christmas cards to a few special people. I gave up actually sending cards a decade ago.

I have seen those. They are so cute. Do you put them on little hanger shaped hangers? That sounds dumb but, you know what I mean.

      1. starzoe | | #3

I don't put them on hangers. Depending on how they are made, a little cut-off wooden skewer with a gold ribbon will keep them on the tree.

Little clothes pins on a string would hold them also.

That would be a grand idea. Now I want to knit some - but have to finish my cabled coat first.

The little handknit sweaters sound adorable!  Mary

    1. Decorated glass ornaments for my friends.

    2. Table runners for dining room table and pass through.

    3. Tree skirt.

    4. Gift for my sister.

What do you use to decorate the glass ornaments?

      1. Ceeayche | | #12

Acryllic Paint, lace, glitter, silk flowers, pearls, rhinestones, tassels and feathers.

Thinking this year of doing poly clay figurines too.... but not sure.

oooooh, lots of goodies to "play" with and create beautiful things!  How will you make the polyclay figurines?  I have some of the clay, but haven't worked with it in a very very long time.  Would love some ideas~

Re what to do with polyclay--go to Donna Kato's web site and check out the links and you'll soon have more ideas than you ever thought possible.  Polyclay is great for button covers-remember them?  I also like to make pendants, pins, and earrings to complement my sewing creations.  The stuff will keep for years if stored properly--you may not need to buy anything to get started.  Good luck!

Two UFO's - a Christmas wall quilt and a finish a wall runner?

Make myself a top for Christmas day. That is ambitious enough for me.

I just finished a summer dress! It can't be time to sew for Christmas yet!!! Good thing I have a short list. I do have to finish a quilt for my BIL before I do anything else though. It isn't necessarily a birthday or Christmas present, more of a just because we love you gift.

The "just because we love you" gifts are the best kind of all!!!

I'll be making crocheted slippers, a table runner with placemats & napkins (that I unfortunately didn't finish for last Christmas), a man's shirt, a wallhanging, & possibly some potholders that I started 3 summers ago & forgot about :(.

I have several of those projects that I set aside to do "later".  I recently put them in a big plastic bin near my serger....I think instead of helping me to get "a round tuit", it backfired on me.  Now I can go to my fabric stash cabinet without seeing them and feeling the pull to finish them before I start something new.  Oh dear!  he he

      1. Gloriasews | | #16

That's exactly the problem I have, Mary!  It's amazing how we don't see these waiting projects when we have a new project in mind.  Could it be that we subconsciously don't want to finish them?  Usually, though, the waiting projects are not that time-consuming to finish, because much of the work is already done.  I keep telling myself that I must stay focused. :)  Nose to the grindstone will bring terrific results  & a huge relief from the guilt!

Ok, so it's either a problem with my nose or the absent grindstone?  giggle  love it

Hahaha!  Love your sense of humour, Mary.
