circle veil edged in ribbon

gossamer4 | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

A bride-to-be recently asked me to make a circle veil with wide ribbon trim on the edge. I made a small circle veil once, but this client wants a fingertip length. I can’t imagine how wide ribbon could navigate around the rounded edges of a circle… Anyone have an insight about this? Thanks.

The only way I can imagine doing this is with the wire-edged ribbon.  You would draw up the ribbon on the inside of the curve.....you could remove the wire afterwards.  I would think that a circle of this size would have very subtle curves.

You can, of course, make your own wire-edged ribbon by zigzagging over the wire, but I'd just go buy some already done........:)

    1)  What about petersham or real grosgrain ribbon (cotton or rayon/cotton)?  These you can shrink to shape by pressing.

    2)  What about bias charmeuse or silk satin organza band?  Silk satin organza would probably be easier to cut/press but may be too stiff.
