Commercial Lapped Zipper Application

Has anyone ever done a commercial lapped zipper application? I’m trying to do one for a class assignment and am in the process of ripping out for the third time. I will try one more time (of course I’m aiming for perfection), then will turn in the results.
The zipper and waistband facing are sewn in at the same step. This is done in the at the last step.
