Can anyone give me some tips for changing a pattern from a zipper (in the back) to a button closure. I know I have the info in a Sew Beautiful or Creative Needle magazine somewhere, but by the time I find it I could have made 10 dresses! HELP!!

To change a zipper closure to a button closure is very simple. Extend the CENTER BACK edge where the zipper was by 3/4" PLUS your seam allowance. To mark your new button and button hole location: Space the buttons/button holes about 2 to 2 1/2" apart(depending on how small a childrens size you are making)with the top button/buttonhole 3/4" down from the top edge. Markings should be IN 5/8" from the back edges. You will also need to make a facing(which should be stabalized according to the fabric type you are working with). If you need additional help with making the facing or need clearer instructions, just let me know.

*helllllllooooo!my suggestion!!! cut off seam allowance at CBAdd 1x width of button you are using to CB. If the seam is perfectly Straight make new line fold line, make facing 3X width of button, don't forget stiffening!Add Buttons and button holes onto CB line. you are done!
