I am going to LA for a conference next week and would love to visit some unique fabric shops. Does anyone know of any neat little shops or even some outlets I can buy retail at. I am especially interested in linens and rayon crepes. Come on, somebody MUST know some juicy hints!! We will be staying in Pasadena but will have quite a bit of time to explore “further afield”. Thanks a bunch. I will report back.

Hi there and welcome in advance to sunny L.A.!
My two favorite places are #1- A fabric warehouse almost directly next door to the "Citadel" shopping outlet - (You can get directions from Information/411 to get to the citadel, then the fabric place is down the street-- don't bother with the shopping center, we local's know it's a crock.)
The second place is very "far afield" down in Long Beach. The name of the place is "Fabric Lace and Trim" on Willow. It has loads of factory remnants and trims. Go dressed ready to rummage for this one. Since the area around it isn't really much to look at, I'd advise pin pointing the place on the map, driving down the 710 to shop at about 9:00 am (to aviod traffic) go to lunch at the Queen Mary or the new Aquarium in Down town Long Beach, then hopping back up the 710 to Pasadena from there by 3:30 to avoid the homewards grid-lock.
You might also look up a nifty litle book for the L.A. area called "Buying retail is stupid!" it should list a few other spots. : )
Good luck!
