I have an article by Sandra Betzina titled “Copying Pleated Pants”. It was a television show but there are no pictures with the article. I’m having some difficulty understanding the written instructions. Has anyone actually done this?
Thanks for your help,
Patti

I remember seeing the show. What part is troubling you?
Stefanie
Thanks for responding. In the written instructions she says,
1. Establish a grain line. Do this by taking pants and holding them upside down by the pant legs. Fold them in half on the crease and match the seams from the inner and outer edge.
2. Baste a seam all the way down the pant's seams on one side, making long stitches. Do this to the front and back of the pants.
Doesn't she mean to baste along the crease? I don't see how you could baste a seam on the front and back of the pants unless you were basting the crease/grain line.
Thanks for your help,
Patti
I haven't seen the article or the show, but I think you have it right. The crease line (which is the centre of each leg at the hem and the knee, following through to the waist) is your straight grain. You need to find this position to make your pattern, so it makes sense for you to baste along the fold/grain line so you have it for reference.
Sandy
Thanks, Sandy.
