Dear sewists,
I am not having any luck turning the fabric over a macrame cord to make a button loop. I’ve looked at several instructions but I can’t seem to get the fabric to start turning. I have a very narrow seam allowance and have used bias.
Thank you for your help.

I cut a 2-1/2 inch wide bias strip and iron in half. Lay the cord in the fold and leave a tail at the start of the bias strip the length you need to make your covered cord. Put your stitch to 1.5 and use a zipper foot and sew fairly close to the cord. Then sew it again just a notch over to the right so you have two tight seams. Trim close to stitching. Now start working the fabric over the extra cord hanging out. I find if I wet my fingers it is easier to start. Once it gets started, you can turn 5 feet in a flash. The double stitching makes it strong, stitching close to the cord makes is snug. Don't stitch on the cord accidently. I got these instructions from Alison Smith on Craftsy. Her lessons are some of the best ever.
Dear Andysmom,
How kind of you to write so clearly. Would you sew across one end of the bias and the cord too? I have seen this in instructions. What class did you buy from Alison Smith on craftsy for this to be seen.
Best regards,
Marie
