Corduroy pant centre seam “spread”

Nancylee | Posted in General Sewing Info on

Have just finished a pair of corduroy pants and while they are close fitting they don’t feel tight, nor am I aware of any strain across the stomach while sitting.  Of course I may be unaware of this.  Anyway the fabric right next to the centre front seam is kind of spreading away from the seam.  Had this once with a pair of linen-like trousers and never did solve the problem.

I really like these pants and the fabric has a beautiful feel…any thoughts on this problem from the more experienced??

If you don't mind topstitching, how about a reinforcement tape inside along the seam and topstitch outside on both sides of the seam?  It sounds as if the zipper is somewhere else.     rjf

      That's a good idea rfj; I think I might try that !
