Does anyone know of a good couture or fine sewing book? I have Bridal Couture by Susan Khalje (sp?) and Vogue Sewing but I would like another source that discussions couture seam finishes, etc. I will be creating a high end wedding dress very soon and want to add some very special touches to the construction. Thanks everyone!

Yes! Check out Couture Sewing Techniques by Claire Shaeffer. There is no better couture book, in my opinion.

She has another book called High Fashion Sewing. How is it different?
Thanks:)
Hiya!
While the High Fashion Sewing Secrets book goes into detail on the design elements like facings, hems, pockets, linings, and then introduces pattern design and garment copying, the Couture Sewing Techniques book has many more couture garment photos and describes in more detail each of the steps and processes. If you fear that the second book may repeat the first too much, try asking for the second book at your local library so you can test drive it and see if you would want to buy a copy. It's in print in paperback.
I used Couture Sewing Techniques as a guide for every step when making my wedding dress, and added extra touches explained by Shaeffer in the book. Her descriptions are so clear that it was a pleasure to use the book. I wouldn't be without it.

Thanks for the advice!
After you have read and absorbed from most of the good sewing books you will see there is nothing couture about the exalted books.
