HI all — first thanks for the oppurtunity to try my hand at designing — and my hats off to those who do this for a living — I’d be hard pressed to keep a roof over my head.
I really had trouble with finding something that would be attractive for me — I kept coming up with square bulky shapes — so I punted and a tried slinky mystery knit ($1 a yard) really was inspired by a Versace dress with tied details and a Dior skirt with braided ( even though it looks very toga like ) I given up— but really liked the braided thing and plan to use a skinner version on a frayed jacket edge ( I think it will look more finished ) I’ve attached my partially finished togavest. thanks, Beth

Gracie, that is really cool!! Finish it.
Thanks --- I had to go back and look at the picture -- it's nice to hear encouragement.

I agree with Jean you must finish it and send in more detailed photos. Also I think I can figure out how you did it but would love to find out if you had any problems that you had to overcome or tips that would make the process smoother for you next time.
Thanks for the kind comments --- as far as what I learned --- I really hate to sew with knits --- one of the ladies at my local sewing store just did a presentation about sewing gowns, robes and other fussy things --- coolest thing was using a knit as binding and for straps --- I need to go back and read how it is done --- but what I did is cut and twisted and sewed the straps then braided them - two from the front and one from the back. As for finishing --- I'm not sure that I would wear it --- more of a jeans and sweatshirt girl. thanks again, Beth
DON'T GIVE UP NOW!!!!! You MUST finish this! It looks amazing and will be even better when done....think of the satisfaction you will feel when you put it on! What a brilliant idea....now get back to work!
