I’m looking for pattern or instructions for making a long crinoline to go under a wedding dress. Thanks, Lynn

Hi Lynn. There are good instructions and pictures in the Singer Reference Library book called "Sewing for Special Occasions". I picked it up at my fabric store but I'm sure you can find it elsewhere. This is a nice one as they use powernet at the waist and an A-line skirt pattern with very fine photo's. There is also a sewing page on the net that gives instructions using an skirt pattern. I can look up the address for you as I don't have it handy but I'm sure I found it through Lilly Abello's sewing links page. Hope this is helpful. Congrats to the bride!

*Thank you, Pica. Our library has that Singer sewing book. I found a lot of new sewing links, thanks to you. Our daughter, the bride thanks you too.

*I have been asked by someone to make a three-layer crinoline, very quickly. I have a basic pattern in a book, but it does not give a lot of detail. I would love to get more information and directions from the net, but right now my question is "when I fold the layers of net to sew it onto the slip, does the folded edge of the fabic go on the top or on the bottom?" Thanks.

*Judy, normally a double layer of net is applied with the fold at the point of attachment to the foundation. This has an advantage - softness, and a disadvantage - the cut edges tend to "hang up" on the dress and each other unless you serge the cut edges for a nicer finish and to help alleviate this problem. If you want a firmer ruffle for "lift" apply with the fold toward the hem - it won't hang up as easily and doesn't crush as easily.

*I have recently purchased a ruffler attachment for my Janome M5700. It did not come with any instructions. How do I thread my fabric through it? Any help would be appreciated. thanks.
