Crochet-like fabric

collingtree | Posted in General Sewing Info on

Hallo

Can anyone tell me the right way to sew the seams of a dress made in crochet-like fabric. I don’t want to back it. I want the lining/slip to be loose. Should I just use paper down the seams when machining them? Thanks for your help. Collingtree

If the pattern is very open & obvious, I would lap the seam and hand-stitch it, cutting along the edge of the pattern.  How to handle it on the machine depends on the weight and density of the crochet like stitching.  What is the fabric content?

Thank you for your speedy and helpful reply. The fabric is only polyester, patterns are quite close and it's lightweight. I think your answer will do the trick.
