Crocheted a Scarf Last Night

rodezzy | Posted in Knitting and Crochet on

This is a repeat from a reply from me in the last post in this thread.  But I wanted to tell about my good friend and what I did with some lucious yarn she gave me. Blessing are all around us.  I wasn’t really feeling my best yesterday and her presence and gift reassured me that I’m loved by good friends.  They are few and far between, but the ones you do have you should cherish.  So here’s to my friend Francis.  I crocheted the hug from her by making this scarf.  Every time I wear it, I will feel her hug of friendship and be comforted.

I crocheted a scarf last night.  I have just a couple rows left to do.  Its a ruffled scarf to match my kimono jacket.  Yesterday a dear friend stopped by the office and brought me some of the most delicious yarn.  Its a merino wool and cotton yarn in medium warm gold.

Its very soft and awesome to work with.  I couldn’t wait to get home and make something with it.  So I made the scarf.  She also gave me a ball of ribbon yarn in shades of dark and navy blue which I put in the scarf.  Also a companion ribbon yarn in shades of medium to silvery light blue.  I have a touch of that in the scarf because I ran out of the other one right before completing its row.  It works out fine since they are the same yarn and similar in color.

I then worked in a row of varigated ribbon yarn I had of gold, cranberry, and rust.  The row I’m on now is a beautiful fall red micro spun yarn, very rich and has a silky texture.  I will end the edges in the wool/cotton gold.  It will be a beautiful accent for the jacket.  Those are the colors of the embroidered flowers in the jacket.  I love it already and I’m not even done.  I have some dear friends.

Your hug scarf sounds beautiful.  I can almost see it from your description.  What a lovely way to honor your friend and her gift to you. Blessings!  Mary

rodezzy, you are somethin' else. Appreciating a friend's gesture in such a beautiful way is a gift, and it's a lovely thing to see. Thank you for letting us in on it. Your scarf will look lovely with your kimono jacket.By the way, I'm so glad you described the colors, because in the picture you posted in another thread, I saw greens where you used blues, so that tells me I need to drastically adjust my monitor. I know Apple has a way to do it, I just have to find out what it is.

Yes, it does look great with the jacket.  I took time to try in on last night.

I love the scarf and I love my friends.  All of them, of which does my heart so much good.
