Design Challenge?

shelly | Posted in Feedback on Threads on

I’m wondering what happened to ‘Design Challenge?’

For those who are unfamiliar with this, 3 designers were approached by Threads Magazine and were given a challenge to come up with a design for an outfit using fabrics that were supplied by Threads, and obliged to follow various rules and limitations.

It was always fun (and IMHO quite inspiring) to see the designs that they were able to come up with.

I agree, Shelly.  I always enjoyed that feature as well.  Thanks for reminding me of it.  Perhaps the editors can tell us when the next Challenge will be featured.  Cynthia

I know. That was one of my favorite articles. The little black dress was done by various seamstresses, but just not the same. Maybe it will be done in the next issue.

The LBD Challenge (Little Black Dress) was open to PACC members only - Professional Association of Custom Clothiers, and they are shown and judged at the PACC annual conference. It is sponsored by Threads and the winners are shown in the magazine each year - Last years(2005) was the 'ruffles', one year was 'stripes"

Thanks for telling me this. I actually just looked at the pictures. Thanks for the website, also. I wasn't notified that I had a message from you, like I usually am. I wonder why?Marcy

I also liked this feature and the annual article about the 4-H sewing projects (???) - this may have been another mag.  Not too long ago I saw a magazine feature that included a spectacular evening gown sewn by a 15 year old - at that age sewing was on the back burner for me - I was still trying to out do my brothers - playing ball, climbing trees and all those other tom-boy things!

Good idea---I'll put it in the suggestion box!
