Designer Fabrics on the Web

Elin_Claridge | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

There’s a really interesting new fabric site on the web. It’s called Francine’s Fabulous Fabrics, (www.fffabrics.com). It specializes in high-end, designer type fabrics. Not cheap, but really fabulous. I contacted them for some swatches and spoke to Francine herself. She was very prompt and helpful about getting me the swatches. An exciting fabric
addition to the Web. Does anyone know of any other sites selling similar fabrics?

*I think the sites mentioned above are more elaborate, but I found that the fabrics, and particularly the personal service from Francine's Fabulous Fabrics was superior.

*I just visited Gstreetfabrics. There was a terse message saying they have closed down there site -- and it appears to be permanent. Does anyone know what happened? This was clearly one of the best designed and functioning sites on the web, not to mentioned the fine quality of their fabrics. Practically my entire stash is made up of their stuff although not all purchased on line. I subscribed to their swatch service for years. Well, looks like "I got when the gettin was good".

*My favorite internet source for high quality fabrics is Michael's Fabrics http://www.michaelsfabrics.com/Exceptional service and very personable. The swiss cotton/viscose pique is lovely. Available fabrics change, currently he has some lovely Carolyn Herrera pieces, a few Donna Karen spring collection fabrics are still available. Michael is great about describing hand and color. if you call he takes time to answer questions and discuss fabrics. He carries some to die for silks and wools.
