Do those designer patterns from Vogue and others really have the fit of the designer, or are they the same poor fit of American patterns?

Angela, back in the seventies, a Vogue rep told me that the sloper used for designer patterns was the designer's own, and they were indeed quite different from the regular patterns, but my current experience is that this is no longer so. For example, I've laid modern pants patterns of both types on top of each other, and the crotch curve is identical (having nothing to do with real human bodies, either).
*Angela,This Fall, I made Calvin Klein jeans for my daughter from his Vogue pattern, and they fit absolutely the same as the ready-to-wear pairs she already had. I followed the pattern book advice to buy her ready-to-wear size in the CK pattern and adjusted the length to fit her height, and now she's one very happy teen!
*The CK jeans pattern is one of the exceptions in Vogue. Vogue states that these patterns have the designer's fit, not Vogue's. Sandra Betzina's patterns are also drafted from her fit chart, not Vogue's, but I think everything else uses the Vogue sloper.
