Designer’s Gallery Software Incompatible with Vista
I bought my machine several years ago and never used the embroidery feature. Finally, I tried it and love it. At the same time as the purchase, I bought CardWorks – Designer’s Gallery software. It was later that we upgraded our computer and now the software won’t work with Windows Vista. Any recommendations? It is expensive software and now, useless. Do people trade them (software packages) – or have any luck selling them?

I have noticed that no one has answered your questions. I have spent several days updating software and drivers for my computer so that I can go to Windows 7. Perhaps you could ask Designer's Gallery if there is a patch for your software. I didn't see one on their website, but that doesn't mean it isn't there. I know there is a provision in Windows 7 for an XP mode. I don't know about Vista, although I do have Vista on one computer. Check Microsoft to see if there is an XP mode for Vista and then you should be able to run your software.
I would try right click on the program icon on your desktop
go to properties
go to compatibility and choose win 2000
See if that works. I had to do that for software for my husbands radio control car
We have XP It worked for us, hope it works for you
Drives ya crazy with everything changing in these window programs
All I want to do is sew haha
I too had soo much trouble with vista. My old XP laptop died 18months ago, bought a new computer with Vista that wrecked havoc with all my designs- was always stalling things with its updates to something every few days,- and of course the booting me off the wireless connection; that it took my husband 30+minutes to restore. We solved all my problems by purchasing an Apple OMG what a difference, and so user friendly. Good luck
