Hello, I am new to discussion groups and I just wanted to say hello. I am Catzmom and I have been a Threads fan for quite a few years. What I wanted to know is is there a book somewhere that has all of Coco Channel’s designs and or patterns I know that this is an active salon but I was wondering……I was also wondering about a book with the designs of Edith Head. I like both of these designers and would like to encorporate some aspects of there designs into my styles. Thanks Catzmom

Catzmom: There are several books on http://www.amazon.com that deal with Coco Chanel and her designs. The most promising look to be:
Chanel (Metropolitan Museum of Art Publications), Harold Koda, et al.
The World of Coco Chanel, Edmonde Charles-Roux
Chanel: The Couturiere at Work, Amy de la Haye
There are probably some at your local library, too. I remember when the Met had the exhibition on Chanel a few years ago, there were quite a few articles written on her and her work.

The Met exhibit was quite lovely although it did not contain everything. Any compilation, such as that mentioned by Mimi would be a wonderful resource addition to your collection. Z
Try and catch some of those Turner Classic Movies. It is wonderful to see Edith Head's garments up on the silver screen. She is such a wonderful designer. I don't think I have ever seen anyone use stripes the way she did. Fascinating.
