Dior’s masterpiece(s)

carobanano | Posted in General Discussion on

I have to write an essay on something that I consider to be a masterpiece, and why I think that is so. Instead of doing something boring and generic (the Mona Lisa, for example), I think I’ll write about Dior’s Tailleur Bar suit. It’s the famous cream-and-black ensemble that launched the New Look.

So I’m looking for details on its construction. I do have Couture Sewing Techniques, but it’s not immediately at hand, and I haven’t really ever read the jackets/suits section. Does anyone know if this informaion is available? And if so, where can I get my hands on it?

Louise- not too late at all! (OK, so I've been a slacker.) Thanks so much for all those books; I'll be sure to nose around for them. Hopefully something good c0omes up- and if not, it'll definitely be fun reading! :D

You're welcome.  I think there was a citation for Vendome Press,  if there was, some of the master's secrets will be unlocked.  They print scaled down actual patterns!

        Bliss!
