I just read a thread on textile painting from 2005. Carol Freesia describes a dying process using shaving foam mixed with dye, and used in silk-screening or stenciling. Has anyone tried this? I’m wondering if this mix could be applied by painting. Sounds like it doesn’t change the texture/hand of the fabric. Anybody know anything about it?

Looks like fun.
It does look like fun! Those were great websites, Deb - thanks for providing them. I didn't know about using shaving foam, so will add this to my "to try" list.
Glad to help out. I love finding links for information about using the stuff I have saved :-)
That sounds interesting, too. Different from what was described on the other thread, where a few drops of dye were mixed with a mound of shaving cream to create a pastel foam, which was then used to silk-screen or stencil onto fabric. But it all sounds like fun, and would be neat to experiment with. Thanks for those great links.
I haven't tried it yet either but it sure does look like fun. Wonder if DS would question why his shaving foam suddenly disappeared, ggg
