I have a new Elna 945 that you can purchase cards that have additional stiches programmed. Is it correct to assume that if I could figure out the machine settings for the stitches I wouldn’t need the cards, or are there things the machine is doing that I don’t have control over? I wouldn’t think it was rocket science, but I’m new to serging so maybe I’m just naive.

Hi Angie, I have the 905 and yes, you could probably figure out the settings, I have thought the same, immediatly after buying and using the Pro cards I have! hahahaha, But compared to the price of the serger, for the small price of the cards why would you want to? I think you would be much worse the wear (no pun intended) after attempting such an endeavor? Elna has the knack of putting the exact stitches you want on different cards, HEY, a corporation has to eat to... LOL If there is a specific stitch you want maybe I can help you but if you want all of the stitches you will be happier with those cards
