embroidery machine software dilema

bonniej28 | Posted in Machine Embroidery on

HELP!  I have a viking rose machine that I bought in 2000. the software that I bought for it runs on window’s 98. My reader writer box has the parellel port . Wanting to buy new software was told the new 5D pfaff viking software would work but afraid my reader writer box is too outdated for the software to recognize the dongle. any thoughts or info?

I have Designer SEs and had 3d software.......got a new computer with Vista and had to get 4d because 3d was not compatible.  I'm wondering if 5d will work on your 98 o.s.  I would check into it further.  The newer software transfers to hard drive, usb, direct to machine or I can send to a floppy and have an external floppy drive plugged into my machine.  I hope this helps you a bit.  I have never had the reader/writer box so I'm  not sure how they work.  BTW, I still have my 3d on the old computer.......just too slow so I don't have it hooked to internet..........just have it by my machine for editing without running up and down the stairs!
