Fabric Bowl directions

JenJ32 | Posted in The Archives on

I am looking for directions for a fabric bowl that was in Threads many years ago. The bowl was shaped and stitched to hold its shape. I couldn’t find it in the online index. Does anyone know what issue it was in or how to get the directions? Thanks.

Okay... The only reason I know of this is that I stumbled onto some old Threads at a garage sale.  As I was going through them I found the back cover of the Dec '88/Jan '89 (No. 20) issue had photos of thread bowls.

These were made by placing mounds of thread between layers of dissolvable fabric... then sewn and sewn and sewn.  The artist, Susan Taber, would quit sewing when she started breaking too many sewing needles.

I'm sure when I go through I might find some more.  I know I've seen (though I'm not sure if it is in Threads) bowls made of felted wool and others made of coils of fabric rope.
