I am trying to find the THREADS issue (as my memory holds me anyway) that had the instructions for making fabric “bowls”. They were soft sculptures of sort that were serged together with a top and bottom fabric and pulled in while being sewn so that the sides gracefully flared upward. Any idea what issue this was? Thanks in advance…..

Hi Alfa girl:
I had a look through the index under: dish, bowl, plate, container, soft sculpture, three dimensional sculpting, sculpting, boxes, without success. Perhaps this is it, but I really think it's too far back for that, but at least worth a try.
This issue is no longer in print

I googled fabric bowls for you - there's a great deal of info available.
Good luck - Katina
Thanks for your suggestion....I did try this but seemed to only get hits for the bowls that you make with a cord that is wrapped with fabric and made into a coil. I am looking for the one that you cut out shapes of fabric, sandwich between interfacing and then zig zag stitch together.....thought that Threads did an article on it recently but it could be my poor memory....cindy
There are some books on Amazon - here's one
http://www.amazon.com/Fast-Fun-Easy-Fabric-Bowls/dp/1571202390/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1248269541&sr=1-1
perhaps this will help?
I don't remember such an article in Threads, but then....my memory went on vacation and forgot to come back.

You can buy templates for fabric bowls at Jo-Ann. They have three different shapes. Once you see them you will see how you can make changes to make just about any shpae/size you want. Sandwich craft type interfacing between 2 fabrics and satin stitch all around. Have fun!
Thanks! I think you meant this for alpha girl, but I certainly appreciate the info.

Sorry 'bout that!
Not at all! DH has to be in US soon - poor guy's now got these fabric bowl shapes on his to do list.
