4shopping | Posted in General Discussion on

Hi,

I will be in the Seattle Washington area in November.  Does anyone know of a good fabric store?

Thank you,

Fashion fabric:  Nancy's Sewing Basket on Queen Anne Avenue - be sure to go back to the ribbon room!   Pacific Fabrics on Fourth Avenue is quite the old warehouse of discounted materials.

Outdoor and recreational fabrics:  Seattle Fabrics on Aurora

Upholstery:  Queen Anne Upholstery on Elliott has a loft with discounted upholstery fabric

Costume stuff:  Display and costume supply on Roosevelt near Northgate.  Sadly Jehlour is gone now

Quilting:  sadly In the Beginning has closed their retail shop.

One of the most impressive Pacific Fabrics is their Northgate store, near the University, over the Aurora Bridge. Their selection is amazing!!! I have been to several of their stores and this one's a beauty. Be sure to go into the small shop attached (on the inside, if you can get past the silks) to the main store where all the wedding and gown material is kept. Georgeous.

I would add that on the Eastside (over the bridges into nearby suburban cities) the nicest fabric shop in Bellevue, WA is Pacific Fabrics (http://www.pacificfabrics.com)). You will also notice on their website that they have a massive outlet store in Seattle down near Safeco Field.

    Happy shopping!

sometimes you can arrange to visit the showroom of Textilestudiopatterns. Marsha has remarkable fabrics there in Seattle.  I was lucky enough to visit her at expo time last march.
