Fabric stores and husbands

mimi | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

I saw this and thought of all our long suffering DH’s 🙂  But then again, most of us would have to have our ashes scattered at a hardware store for the same result!

Hee-hee. My dh cut that one out for me, too!Actually, after many years of marriage, he is soooo good about fabric stores. He even points them out to me when we drive into unfamiliar towns. Of course, he always, always, has a book in his belt pack, and a big coffee cup. Thus armed, he's good for over an hour while I'm pawing fabrics in any one store.

    Hi Mimi,
I laughed so hard - thank you for that cartoon. My wonderful husband helps me pick out fabric, trims, etc and has found many gorgeous fabrics for me over the years. The ladies in Joann's and Hancock's are always amazed that he is not cranky, not impatient and definitely interested in what I'm doing. In return, I do spend a fair amount of time in computer stores (they have lots of magazines) and I make a wicked chiffon cake. :)

Glad to know I am not the only one. My dh is a great help to me too in stores. Oh I will miss him when he goes...I trust God that we have many years left together.

Ps: I like the automotive stores and the hardware stores so we make a good match.

    Thanks so much mimi. :)

My DH is pretty good in fabric stores too,and tolerates a great deal of time spent fabric shopping on the internet, where I can literally spend hours and hours deciding on fabric.

But, having said how wonderful he is, that cartoon just cracked me up!

Oh, this is too cute. I've got to print this out and put it on the bulletin board in my sewing room. My husband doesn't mind a quick run through, but he is usually looking at his watch and he grabs my arm and tries to pull me out. The only time he will let me look is when he is looking for some felt, like when he made his gun case.Marcy

Mine doesn't mind going with me as long as it is a quick trip:  go in, pick up the fabric, buy it and leave.  I tend to prowl through the aisles until I find the perfect fabric.  More likely I prowl throught the aisles in search of elusive fabric these days.

Where have all the good fabric stores gone??

What a crack up! I too will cut this one out and give it to all my sewing buddies!! too funny..I have to say my honey is also great, however I find it more relaxing when he doesn't come with me. I get to spend lots of time and no worries.. He will be patient with me as I am with him in other things however I know the frequency I go to fabric stores....like way more then he goes even to hardware stores and such so I don't even want to press it..besides it is good to have alone time that is my frequent get away..I usually have to do it with my girls.......I know they sometimes get bored with it all but they love the fabric too!All and all what I have read our honey are fantastic and know that they can't fight the draw we have to our wonderful sewing and fabric stores!Could be worse we could all be addicted to casinos for our entertainment not that it is not a fun thing to do once in a blue moon but I have better things to do with my money like sew with it!!Thanks Mimi for your wonderful comic you shared Love love love itBlondie

          Blondie,

The first time I actually put money into a poker machine I came out with $100. I took it and ran. I am by no means a gambler and I haven't done it since. I have been to dinner and shows at our Star City Casino and the money on the tickets and dinner with hubby is always well spent.

I would love a sleepover at the fabric store. Pillows and doonas/quilts, pyjamas.....

(They do it for kids at Manly Oceanworld.)

We have a casino/slots here in town, we've been to the hotel and conference area more than we have been in the casino.  I think I would rather burn the money in the parking lot than put it in the slots!  What a monumental waste of time and money.  Now, a fabric store is a different matter!

Good question. And the fabric stores that we have are no where near me. I have to drive 20 miles or more to a Hancock Fabrics. I have to go on my lunch hour, so that it's only about 10 from work.Marcy
