BeverlyK | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

I will be visiting Europe in the fall and I would like to visit fabric stores in Amsterdam and Prague.  Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted.  Many Thanks

Fabric shopping in Amsterdam... Haven't had the chance recently, but my mom raves about a shop called Den Haan en Wagenmaker. They do reproductions of traditional Dutch textile patterns on cotton, primarily marketed to quilters. They have a website at http://www.dutchquilts.com which gives you an idea of the fabrics.

It's not much, but maybe fun to check out.

I've been to Wagenmaker! wonderful quilt fabrics that you don't see anywhere else, and fabulous quilting books in many different languages - it's fairly small, but jam packed! Put it at the top of your list!

Wow, those fabrics are gorgeous! The large panels almost make me want to handquilt something...And the yardage is 60 in. wide, which is unusual in quilting fabrics, isn't it? Thanks for the link, Marijke.

Beverly, I just noticed there's a review of several fabric vendors at the Albert Cuypstraat market in Amsterdam on http://www.PatternReview.com, under shop reviews. Sounds interesting, and the market itself is pretty extensive and enjoyable to visit. If you're a fish lover, try a broodje haring. For snoop shopping, go to the PC Hooftstraat.

    Have fun!

One thing you could find in Amsterdam was REAL pearl bottons.  I haven't seen any here in years and years.  Have a good time.      rjf
