I’m travelling to New Zealand in a few months and I’m looking for help in finding sources to purchase “special” fabric while visiting. OK I am a fabricoholic and love my stash from my travels. I will be visiting both north and south islands.

Hi Paulajeanne,
we have Spotlight (Australian company) stores all over - not really specialist. If you go to Wellington there's Arthur Toye's in the middle of town, Global fabrics not far away, and on the edge of town there's the Fabric Warehouse. Most towns have a shop that caters for quilters and if that's what you are after there are some "Kiwi" designs on cottons that would remind you of your trip. Also in town is Sherazad, selling silks and bridal fabrics.
We import most of our fabrics. There is some merino and possum wool fabric - I don't know if you can buy that; if so, probably in christchurch or Dunedin.
Hope you have an enjoyable trip!

Statha, thank you so much. Possom wool? sounds fascinating. I will certainly give your suggestions a look.
